What Is a Custom Totem?

The Totem of Undying is a rare item in Minecraft that saves you from death when held. With a custom resource pack, you can replace the totem's texture with your own Minecraft skin, making it a personalized keepsake or a fun way to represent yourself in-game.

Custom totems are popular on multiplayer servers where players create personalized totems as trophies, gifts, or collectibles.

Installing the Resource Pack

Download the resource pack ZIP file and place it in your.minecraft/resourcepacks folder. Then activate it in-game from Options > Resource Packs. The totem texture will immediately update to show your custom design.

Works with Minecraft Java Edition 1.20+ (pack format 34). Compatible with other resource packs — just make sure this pack has higher priority if another pack also modifies the totem texture.

Server-Wide Custom Totems

Server owners can set a custom totem as the server resource pack in server.properties using the resource-pack setting. All players who join will see the custom totem texture without manually installing anything.

Totem Style Options

Choose between three rendering styles: Default maps the face, arms, and body onto the totem shape. Slim uses a smaller face with the body below. Blocky fills the totem center with just the face for maximum visibility.
