How to Use the Minecraft Enchantment Calculator

1. Select Your Item

Choose the item you want to enchant from the left panel. The calculator supports all enchantable items including swords, pickaxes, armor pieces, bows, crossbows, tridents, and more. Select "All Enchantments" to browse the complete list.

2. Browse Available Enchantments

Once you've selected an item, the calculator shows every compatible enchantment with its max level, description, and incompatibilities. Enchantments are grouped by source — enchanting table enchantments, treasure-only enchantments (like Mending), and curses.

3. Build Your Enchantment Set

Click enchantments to select them. The calculator automatically handles incompatibilities — if you select Sharpness, the mutually exclusive Smite and Bane of Arthropods are disabled. Adjust levels using the dropdown next to each selected enchantment.

4. Copy Your Commands

The calculator generates /enchant commands for each selected enchantment. Copy them and paste into your Minecraft chat or server console. You need to be in Creative mode or have operator permissions to use enchant commands.

Minecraft Enchanting Guide

Enchanting Table Setup

Place an enchanting table with up to 15 bookshelves arranged in a 5×5 ring, one block away. Each bookshelf increases the maximum enchantment level offered. At 15 bookshelves you unlock level 30 enchantments — the highest tier available.

The bookshelves must be on the same level as the table or one block above it, and there must be nothing (not even torches or snow) between the bookshelves and the enchanting table.

XP & Lapis Costs

The enchanting table always shows three options. The top slot requires the fewest levels (but gives weaker enchantments), while the bottom slot requires the most levels (and gives the strongest enchantments).

You always spend exactly 1, 2, or 3 experience levels and the same number of lapis lazuli for each respective slot — the number displayed is the minimum level required, not the amount spent.

Treasure Enchantments

Some enchantments like Mending, Frost Walker, Soul Speed, and Swift Sneak cannot appear on an enchanting table. These are "treasure" enchantments obtained through villager trading, loot chests, fishing, or bartering. Mending is especially valuable as it repairs items with XP orbs.

Best Enchantments per Item

For swords: Sharpness V, Looting III, Sweeping Edge III, Fire Aspect II, Unbreaking III, Mending. For pickaxes: Efficiency V, Fortune III (or Silk Touch), Unbreaking III, Mending. For armor: Protection IV on all pieces, plus Respiration III and Aqua Affinity on the helmet, Feather Falling IV on boots.
