About the game

About Cs Source

Counter-Strike: Source is Valve's 2004 Source-engine rebuild of CS 1.6 — it sat between the old-school 1.6 fanbase and CS:GO for over a decade and still has a dedicated community running surf, KZ, zombie mod, gungame, and classic competitive servers.

Our CSS template uses the legacy Source server binary via SteamCMD with SourceMod and MetaMod preinstalled. Community plugins (CSSDM, GunGame, Zombie:Reloaded, rcon tools) are all one-click. Custom maps upload via the panel or SteamCMD workshop sync.

CSS is light on hardware: 2 GB RAM handles a 32-slot server. DDoS protection is standard. Our 13-location network covers the major CSS communities still active today — EU, NA, South America, and Asia.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is Counter-Strike: Source still alive?+

Dedicated community servers still run CSS for surf, KZ, zombie, and gungame. Valve hasn't updated CSS in years, but the server binary still works and the community is stable.

Does SourceMod work on CSS?+

Yes. Older SourceMod versions fully support CSS. Classic community plugins install from the panel.

Can I run Workshop maps?+

CSS has a Steam Workshop for maps; the panel syncs via SteamCMD. Custom .bsp uploads are also supported via file manager.

How much RAM?+

2 GB is plenty. Heavy plugin stacks (Zombie:Reloaded + ZE) benefit from 4 GB.

Should I run CSS or CS:GO/CS2?+

CSS for nostalgia or specific community plugins that haven't been ported. CS2 for active competitive/community scenes.

DDoS protection?+

Always-on layer 3/4 mitigation plus Source-specific query filtering.
