Factorio is Wube Software's factory-automation monument — the 'cracktorio' that's been stealing weeks from players since 2016 and landed the Space Age expansion in 2024. Build belts, trains, assemblers, circuits, and eventually launch rockets and colonize other planets. Multiplayer scales remarkably well; community megabases have seen 200+ players on a single server.
Our Factorio template uses the headless server binary with auto-update checks against Wube's stable releases. The Factorio mod portal is integrated — paste a mod name, we resolve the latest compatible version and install it. Space Age, Krastorio 2, Bob's, Angel's, and other major overhauls work out of the box.
Factorio's server is CPU-bound on a single core — the game's UPS target (60 updates per second) is what matters, not frame rate. Our Ryzen 9 nodes have the single-thread headroom that keeps UPS at 60 during late-game megabases where budget CPUs drop to 30 UPS and the whole server slows down noticeably. RAM: 4 GB for early game, 8–16 GB for space-age megabases.
