Subnautica is Unknown Worlds' single-player underwater survival game — explore an alien ocean, build bases, craft submarines, and unravel the story of the Aurora. Vanilla Subnautica is single-player only, but the Nitrox community mod adds cooperative multiplayer for up to 10 players, and it's the standard way to experience Subnautica together.
Our Subnautica template installs Nitrox with the recommended build, handles save file synchronization, and keeps the Nitrox client/server versions aligned. Nitrox is still in active development; we auto-update to compatible releases on restart.
Subnautica multiplayer is moderate on hardware: 6 GB RAM for 4–6 player groups, 8 GB for the full 10. CPU single-thread matters for terrain chunk loading. NVMe helps with the large biome transitions.

No. Vanilla Subnautica is single-player only. Nitrox is a community mod that adds multiplayer. It's mature and widely used, but not supported by Unknown Worlds.
