About the game

About Half Life

Half-Life 1's deathmatch mode is the 1998 GoldSrc classic that spawned CS, TFC, DOD, Sven Co-op, and basically the entire Valve multiplayer ecosystem. The community still runs HL DM servers for the original crowbar-and-crossbow gameplay on maps like boot_camp and crossfire.

Our HL1 template uses ReHLDS (the community-maintained fork) for modern OS compatibility and stability. AMX Mod X with MetaMod-P is preinstalled; classic community plugins (admin, stats) install one-click.

HL1 is extremely lightweight — 256 MB RAM handles a 32-slot server. The Starter plan's 4 GB is massive overkill. What matters is network latency and DDoS protection; our 13-location network covers the remaining community.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is Half-Life 1 deathmatch still alive?+

Small but persistent community. A few dedicated public servers still see players, especially for retro nights.

HLDS or ReHLDS?+

ReHLDS. It's the community fork that keeps HL1 servers running stable on modern Linux/Windows with security patches HLDS never got.

AMX Mod X support?+

Yes. Classic AMX Mod X with MetaMod-P is preinstalled. All the old community plugins still work.

Custom maps?+

Yes. Upload .bsp, .wad, sprite packs via the panel's file manager.

How much RAM?+

256 MB is plenty. Our smallest plan is massive overkill; we price it fairly for the era.

DDoS protection?+

Always-on layer 3/4 mitigation included.
